AUTUMN 2011 Thursday, Sept 1 Matt & the Boys tighten up their already-well-honed set at the Contented Cow in our third of four shows in a fortnight! The beautiful and talented Counterfactuals (now a full four-piece band!) kick off the night at 8pm. The beastly Bratlanders follow around 9:30. Saturday
, Sept 10 For the seventh (7th!) year in a row the Bratlanders are performing at our favorite musical venue for Northfield's biggest annual party: the Defeat of Jesse James Days. This year we're especially honored to be warming up for the one and only TRAILER TRASH, and we're pretty darn excited to take the stage before the sun goes down. I know what you're thinking: Hey Bratlanders, what the heck is up with all the shows?! Weren't you just playing at the Contented Cow on Saturday night??? And to that I say: YES. A thousand times yes. This is indeed our fifth show in a month, but this will be a show unlike any of the previous ones. This one is all about new songs, untested songs, songs that will end prematurely with an awkward silence, and songs that will blow your everlovin' mind. Thursday, Sept 29 It's been four years since all three Bratland siblings rocked together as the backing band for the mighty Matt Arthur. Join us as we welcome Bev back to the stage and watch her try to figure out what happened to that country-folk band she left behind! Thursday, Oct 6 Katy Vernon and Jim Walsh swap songs for an hour in anticipation of Matt Arthur & The Bratlanders' health and happiness show. The Bratlanders mighty sound will be augmented by the addition of the aforementioned Mr. Walsh along with the illustrious Mr. Pete Christensen on keyboard! Saturday, Oct 15 The first Northfield gig by the band that would become The Bratlanders was a Johnny Cash tribute show back in 2003. Tonight we pay tribute to the Man in Black once again with a 10pm set. Eight or so other groups will perform the music of country legends Hank Williams, Marty Stuart, Willie Nelson, the Louvin Brothers, the Sons of the Pioneers and more in an EPIC night of classic country. Thursday, Oct 20 We're not calling it an "unplugged" performance, but tonight's gig will see us turning things down a notch and showcasing some of the fine songwriting of Mr. Matt Arthur, without the thunderous roar that usually characterizes our live shows. So come on, sit a little closer to the stage tonight. It'll be all right. Thursday, Nov 12 Northfielders invade the Big City to our North! Details soon.
